Introduction

Adam's head This site is dedicated to showcasing the different projects of Adam Simmons and providing regular news of forthcoming events. Adam plays saxophones, clarinets and flutes in all styles of music, with a focus on original jazz and improvised music. Adam is also establishing himself as a visual artist as well with his music box assemblages.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Adam has been released on numerous CD's, tours regularly to Europe, USA, Australia and the Pacific. At any time Adam is always working with between 5-10 groups as a regular member so this site will help keep up to date with what groups are playing where, when and what.

Its been a good start to the year, especially with some great gigs at MONA FOMA in January and at Clocked Out's Trilling Wire Festival.

Right now though, Origami are launching two new CDs in March with a tour also.
The CDs are available online from Fat Rain Music and also via outlets such as Readings, Basement Discs, Birdland, Leading Edge (thanks to Trailblazer Records).

Two new CDs from Origami:
Karaoke - a collection of Australian songs by the likes of Colin Hay, The Reels, Hello Satellites, Nick Cave, The Parrots and Gotye.
The Usefulness of Art - a 5 part suite (with a prologue and interludes) featuring my new-ish Selmer bass clarinet. Definitely one to sit and soak in!

The trio on the CDs is Howard Cairns (bass), Anthony Baker (drums) and myself (alto sax, bass clarinet) - though Hugh Harvey has now replaced Anthony as the regular drummer.
Both have been recorded by the wonderful Myles Mumford and mastered by the delectable Adam Dempsey (Deluxe), who were the team responsible for "The Blues of Joy."
