This site is dedicated to showcasing the different projects of Adam Simmons and providing regular news of forthcoming events. Adam plays saxophones, clarinets and flutes in all styles of music, with a focus on original jazz and improvised music.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Adam has been released on numerous CD's, tours regularly to Europe, USA, Australia and the Pacific. At any time Adam is always working with between 5-10 groups as a regular member so this site will help keep up to date with what groups are playing where, when and what.

ORIGAMI - LAUNCH OF "THE BLUES OF JOY" CD
I'm excited by the release of our debut CD - celebrated with two launches:
SYDNEY: WED 5 OCT - Venue 505 - 8:30pm
MELBOURNE: THU 13 OCT - Northcote Uniting Church - 7:30pm
The trio is Howard Cairns (bass), Anthony Baker (drums) and myself (alto sax) - though for Sydney (and our warm-up gig at Monkey this Sunday 2nd Oct) we have Hugh Harvey who will do a fabulous job also. I'm happy to say the disc is now available through Listen/Hear Collective and you can listen to it via www.listenhearcollective/com
Each launch features some special people - in Sydney, Sandy Evans who has long been an inspiration, plays with Waratah, a trio with Satsuki Odamura and Tony Lewis. And in Melbourne Tony Gould is playing the church organ and Speak will be premiering a new piece by me, utilising newspapers as instruments.

17-30 Oct - Hutchins Art Prize (works on paper) - I've been selected as a finalist - Long Gallery, Salamanca Place, Hobart.
21-30 Oct - La Societe Des Antipodes - a quartet co-led by Denis Colin (France) and myself touring Brisbane, Maleny, Newcastle, Ballarat, Melbourne and Wangaratta - this is going to be fun!!
2 Nov - Deakin Contemproary Small Sculpture Award - yep, happy to say I have been selected as a finalist in this exhibition also!!
8-20 Nov - I'll be in Europe travelling mainly for the JOLT Festival in Basel (8-10 Nov), then Berlin (15-16 Nov), Sicily (17-18), Rotterdam (19) - and then home again to collapse!
